Shio at the Dog Run
It was a cold day in NYC today... Ting and I try very hard to make sure Shio gets sufficient exercise, but today even we were very reluctant to go out.
In any case, we did take Shio to the dog run so he could at least run around for a bit. We missed the shiba meet-up unfortunately, but at least Shio got to play a little.

Shio loves to tease bigger dogs by running behind benches, the stone structures, etc.
I love the play-dance that he does.

New Lens Adapter for GF1
Just got a lens adapter for my GF1 that allows me to use my old lenses with Nikon F-Mount.
The results speak for themselves.
Because the performance of the GF-1 is worse at high ISOs (and I mean ISO 1600+), I like to flip the images into B&W to 1) mask the noise and 2) mimic the look / feel of grain in B&W photos.

Shio vs. Maggie

Shio’s 80′s Crimped Fur-do
Shio was the recipient of a much needed bath on Saturday afternoon and we left his fur to air dry. He fell asleep on his side on our new rug and woke up with a crimped fur-do that we haven't been able to straighten out.

Why a Shiba?
With the return of the SF Shiba puppy cam (http://www.ustream.tv/sfshiba), we have people ask us why we picked a Shiba. Here's what happened:
Originally, Josh wanted a lab/golden retriever while I wanted a Yorkie. Instead of an obedient and goofy or cute and cuddly lap dog, we wound up with a stubborn and independent Shiba. How did that happen?!
We spent months debating on the breed. I refused to have a large high energy dog and he refused to have a little fluffy one. One day while Josh and I were shopping in SoHo, we came upon the cutest Shiba in the world and I turned to Josh and said, "That is a GORGEOUS dog! What is he?!" Little did we know that they were little red devils in cute furry bodies. Still, through months of research and reading through many blogs we decided that this cat-like (independent and fastidious), smart and loyal Japanese dog will be ours.
Our puppy requires a lot of discipline and patience but if we had to do it all over again, we would still pick him. If you have children, you always favor the most difficult and rebellious one. That's how we feel about Shio.
Folks, if you're considering a Shiba, DO YOUR RESEARCH. If you decide to just pick this dog up on a whim, you're going to find yourself in some trouble.

Shio’s Scab
After Week 1 if the fight in the Union Square dog run, it looks like Shio's bite is healing nicely.
A speedy recovery is in order!
Shio’s New Squeaky Toy
Josh bought Shio another new and uber adorable dog toy.
Made by Charming Pet Products and super squeaky. We bought the one that's shaped like a bull and Shio's been playing with it all night.
