Prospect Park: The Best Dog Park in New York?

We decided to explore Prospect Park today, and boy was it fantastic! The neighborhood is lovely — so lovely in fact that we even want to move there! As for Shio — the photos speak for themselves… Photos taken with Nikon D700, f/2.8G. Tweet This Post

Ahhh! That look of joy on his face!

wow it does look nice. I’ll have to keep prospect park in mind. does it lead to an open pond? my shiba doesn’t like the water, but that’s neat for other dogs!

JML

It does lead to an open pond! Shio hates water too, but his friends love it. Shio gives this face that says “I don’t know what you guys are up to in the water but I ain’t having any of that” when they go in…

Hi Melissa – Prospect Park, like Central Park, only allows dogs off lead in certain areas of the park before 9am. We were at Long Meadow and that area does lead to a small fenced in dog beach. Shio doesn’t enjoy the water either so he stood watching from afar as his buddies splashed around in the water!

Have a great time when you do go! It’s really beautiful!

The long weekend…

Hope you and Shio have a great Memorial day weekend! We are headed to a cabin on a river so Romeo should be having a great lazy weekend as well! :)

I know Shio can roll over but the photos remind me of this:

hee hee.

We love Shio! Reminds us of our two puppies. Great to meet another Shiba lover in NYC! You can find us on http://www.everybodylovessumo.com. :-)

Love that video!

Shio’s Home Baked Treats

I did it! I finally did it. I made homemade treats for Shio-san and he loves them! How do I know he loves them? He does his little play dance with the treat in front of him when we give one to him! It was a recipe that I threw together myself with random items…

hee hee. It’s fun when dogs dance for their treats!

Holy adorable!

If that corgi was ours, he would be a fat round basketball bc I would keep on feeding him just to watch him tap dance all day!

grace

omg i should try this for lucas. funny name

I tried making treats for Pongy once.. she loved it. But again, she loves anything edible! lol

Shio’s Fur

It’s been two months now and no signs of the end of shedding season. We furminate him and put his fur in a pile next to him. He turns around and eats the ball of fur. Do we have the only weirdo Shiba or is this normal? Tweet This Post

Romeo is also shedding non-stop! He is going to get a big brushing out this weekend. I do it outside in our backyard but if he can get to any of the hair he will try to eat it too! I think its so gross and try to get it out of his mouth! Shiba’s seriously crack me up! :)

I don’t know that it is “normal” but Zuko seems distressed when I take his fur away from him. The Shiba “it’s mine don’t take it” mentality seems to kick in or something. I brush him outside so he can’t eat it. I had enough of hairballs with the cats, I don’t want my Shiba coughing them up!! :-)

Melissa

Oh I am so glad my Shiba is not the only one who eats her hair after I remove it. I try to bag it up quickly so she can not get to it.

Sam

Yeah mine likes to eat the hair balls too if I am not fast enough… all shibas are wierd in their own ways :-)
