We Gotcha Emi!

We’re happy to be able to announce that Goo Goo2 was adopted last night! Even happier to announce that she was adopted by our family! She has been immediately renamed to Emi (pronounced: eh-me), after her shy Shiba smile. Thoughts on Fostering: As we’ve mentioned before, we jumped at the opportunity to foster when we…

Yay! Congrats to you all, and welcome to Emi! I hope Emi likes Twitter…

hooray for adding a second shiba to your pack! we couldn’t be happier for all involved. it’s been a joy reading through the transition and to know that emi will be in such a good home with such a wonderful big shiba brother warms our hearts.

I am so happy I cried a little. And you are right – we all knew you were gonna adopt Emi. :-)

Congrats – very happy for all FOUR of you!

Leslie

Congratulations, I’m very happy for you and I look forward to all the new pics of the pups :)

Lise

Congratulations!
I’ve got happy Shiba tears reading this at my desk at work. I can’t wait to read (and see) more of Shio & Emi’s adventures. You guys have been amazing foster & forever parents to these very, very lucky (and loved) dogs.

Leah's Mom

Great to see everything worked out well for all of you! The photo of Shio grooming Emi has to be the *cutest* thing ever! Congrats!

I cried A LOT! Meeting this sweet little girl in her previous situation and knowing that she was going to a wonderful foster home made me so happy. The only thing that makes me happier is that the Wonderful Foster home became her Amazing Forever home- well that and her name change of course ;) Congratualtions and welcome to the long list of Family 101 Successes!

Monica

What a beautiful post! The picture of Shio grooming Emi made me cry. I volunteer for NYCSR, too, and fostered one of the little pups for a week. I was there when your Emi left the vet and started on her journey to you. She is a doll, and I can’t tell you how happy I am to hear that she’s no longer the shy, scared baby that I saw that day at the vet. Congratulations on your family!!

Nami

Congrats on getting owned by Emi!!! Our pack is beyond excited!!!

It had to happen. We all knew it was going to, but I’m still brought to tears by the news. So happy for you and Emi. There couldn’t have been a better match.

Does this mean it’s impossible to foster a shiba?? :D

Congratulations! So glad Emi is now officially part of the family. It’s obvious from the stories you have told and the pictures you have posted how happy having a little buddy has made Shio, too. Misaki approves. :)

Judy

CONGRATULATIONS on succeeding at “Family 101″. This is what rescue is all about and I, like others, are shedding “happy tears”. Have a great Christmas with your new family member!

Marize Pommot-Maia

Isn’t it a wonderful feeling to fail Fostering 101? Hugs from my pack, particularly from Bibi.

Congrats!! The pictures are absolutely beautiful and Emi is lucky to have such a great foster and now, forever family.

Yay Josh, Ting, Shio, and Emi!! I knew from the first phone call the day she arrived at your home that would adopt her.

PS to nobuko, yes it is possible to foster a Shiba. :) When they are “trading up” by being adopted, you let them go. When they clearly belong as part of your family, well, then you don’t!

Kim

Awww, congrats you two! :) They’re perfect together!

Jay

Love the blog, and enjoyed following your story! Shibas are the best, no doubt!

Debbie

I had to laugh when you said Emi’s adoption came as a surprise to no one but you… I was the same way when I failed fostering. When I finally realized that Thunder wasn’t going anywhere and called the foster coordinator at the English Setter rescue, her comment was “I wondered when you were going to realize this… I already had him flagged as unavailable.” :-)

Congrats on the newly permanent addition to the family!

Jessie

Congratulations on your growing family!!! Emi looks like a beautiful dog and a great addition. And Shio gets a buddy!!!

YAY! On behalf of Aiden and Danny, we’re so so happy for you!!!

Joanna

Great story and beautiful pictures! I have already spoken to one couple who found the rescue, NYC Shiba Rescue, from reading your blog and have since applied to foster to adopt! Thanks for being out there and spreading the word for beautiful shibas looking for loving homes like yours!

Kuma

YAY EmiGG and Shio!! Congratulations on the new permanent sisfur!

Yay! Congratulations! Emi is so adorable and we look forward to meeting her one day =)

CONGRATS to the whole pack!!! They are so perfect together and just TOO CUTE. We wish you all the shiba happiness in the world. =D

YAY SHIO AND EMI! We are so very happy for you!

theresa

Congrats to the new addition to your family!! Shiba hugs!!

Congratulations on failing Fostering 101! If one must fail, now nice to also win!

I knew it! Congratulations :) as long as emi doesn’t start learning the shio protests, i think you guys are good to goooo!

I’m so happy for you! We follow Shio and have fallen in love with Emi! I told my husband that I wanted to adopt Emi, but definitely had a feeling from the first time she appeared on your blog that she was destined to be yours. When our Shiba is a little older, we hope to adopt. Hopefully, Henley will love his sister as much as Shio loves Emi. Congratulations!

AW YEAH! AW YEAH! AW YEAH! :D

Mel McLellan

Yep – I totally knew this day would come! ;) congrats on the new fur-baby! She looks awesome!

Jen Lai

Congrats Ting! This is such a sweet post and Emi looks adorable. Looks like they get along real well too!

Congratulations!!! You two are so perfect together and so adorable! :)

“At the end of the day, our failing of Fostering 101 has led to our success of Family 101.”

Bwaaaahhh… where’s my box of tissues?
The freckle-licking picture is just too sweet.

Wishing I could send a MILLION congrats — but appreciative that at least this one counts. =)

Heather

Congratulations to you four! I feel like it was just yesterday that I was driving Emi (then GooGoo) to you! I remember how quiet and shy she was in the car and I am so happy to see how wonderful and fulfilling a life you’ve given her. Congrats to you all and thank you for being such a wonderful foster (even if you failed) :)

Wendy

Awww, it’s fine failing Fostering 101! I bet Emi is so happy to join the family! :) Shio and Emi will have a lot of great times together playing and I hope you all make wonderful memories!

Janet

So happy for you all!

Donna G.

That is just so neat.

We’re so excited for ALL of you! It’s been wonderful reading about Emi’s journey. Adam and I were captivated by her sweet face the moment we saw the first picture of her, and she’s undoubtedly found the perfect forever home. Congrats!

David Greulich

I am so happy that you went from fostering to adopting. That was also a wonderful story.

Paula Kline

Thank you for sharing your journey. I appreciated your humor and description of “failing” fostering. It all sounds like a splendid happy ending. Congratulations!Omedetou!

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

congrats to all :) she’s such an awesome addition to an already awesome family.

Saké & Family

Pawsome News!! I wish we could could have a brofur or sisfur for Saké! We are very happy for Emi who is a lucky lucky little Shiba to have found a home with you!

Pack Walk

No pack walk is complete without Shio’s protesting… Photos taken with Leica M9, Summicron-M 35mm f/2. Processed with VSCO. Photography Rant The M9 is by far the best camera I have ever owned. I am not talking about technicals, because the D700 probably still, to this day, produces the best image file of any DSLR…

That’s interesting, about the camera. That’s exactly what I am looking for as a replacement. Something that is more similar to an old film camera than a does-everything digital. I really don’t like digital photography, it’s too easy, and much prefer having to do everything myself.
