how do your guys do with rawhides? ours never have a problem, but whenever i post a photo of them eating one i always get the “isn’t that dangerous” comment…

JML

When the rawhide gets to a small size, we monitor them very carefully so that they don’t try to swallow a big piece without chewing. Otherwise, they are fine and enjoy the teeth exercise very much.

Tina from Norway

Hello! We are expecting to bring home a Shiba puppy in august this year, and I plan to take a lot of pictures of our dog. I think you take lovely pictures of the dogs, and I wondered if you have any recommendations for me – I want to buy a new lens for my old camera, a Canon 450D. I want a lens that can take “sport” pictures without depending on bright daylight (if that’s possible, in norway only a few summer days are sunny:/ ).
I also plan on buying a 50mm lens, and the 1.8 is a lot cheaper than the 1.4. Do you know if it’s a big difference there?

I hope you have time to answer me! :)

Two Shibas 366 Project

Shibas are my source of inspiration for so many aspects of my life right now. Instead of going outside and talking about my dogs all day to whomever will listen, I’ve decided that it is far more productive and less annoying for me to channel that using another outlet. Thus the birth of my new…

Great photo! Love Shio’s calmness and he’s probably thinking “not this again…that behavior is getting so boring”.

iluli Contest Winner and Donation to NYC Shiba Rescue!

Sorry for the great delay in posting up the results for our contest. We’ve had a very busy week with Josh out of town and Emi being sick. Alas, we made it! Now without further ado, let’s get straight to the two most important parts of this post. The winner of our tote bag contest and…

i miss the blog-o-sphere for two weeks and you’ve been making kick ass shiba gear! sweet deal. i kind of wish we had a baby – those onesies are adorable. i’m more of a tote person myself.

YAY thank you so much!! I can’t wait to parade around with my shiba tote (if Yuki doesn’t steal it first) and I can’t wait to see new products in your store!

NYEarthling

Yay for Shelley! (And NYCSR) Are the new tote bags grocery-bag size?

Sorry to hear that Emi was sick, nothing serious, I hope. Is she ok now?

@NYEarthling – They’re these bags: http://store.americanapparel.net/e549.html
and the dimensions are 14 3/8″ x 14″ (36.5cm x 35.6cm).

And in regards to your comment about the store name (sorry I didn’t respond as to not screw up the comment counts for the contest), it was a name I created on a whim for Rock Band II and it just stuck!

Weekend Shiba Getaway: Saugerties

Ting found an awesome rental for the long weekend so that we could hang out in the country with the shibas. The drive was ~2 hours — Emi was more than happy to spend a part of that sleeping in my arms. After a while, she moved back to spend time with her brofur, and…

beautiful!!

Awesome! Thanks to you, now we have a new mission: find a vacation rental with an enclosed yard.

It normally takes Kaiju about a day and half to feel comfortable enough to come down from a couch or a bed (whatever he chooses to perch on when we go to those new places). Free running in the enclosed yard may help…

JML

I think Shio, Emi and Kaiju should go play together. I bet they will have so much fun!!

JML

Thanks!

Your site has the most amazing pictures. Looks like they had an awesome time and what a fun relaxing getaway for all of you! Good job finding a cabin that has a fenced in yard too. Your trip has inspired us to look into Blue Ridge Mountains (Georgia, ~2 hrs from us), seems similar with cabins, lakes, trails, small antiquey stores, homemade pies, but we have yet to find one with a fenced in yard. :D

NYEarthling

It took just two hours from the boroughs? Wow, you guys made great time! Upstate NY is gorgeous. Just as beautiful: Shio and Emi still smitten with each other. :)

NYEarthling – It was more like 3+ hours with the tunnel traffic and stops we made!

stunning. absolutely stunning.

ny has some gorgeous locations!

They are so sweet!

We have a shiba inu and a shiba inu/rottweiler at home. Wonderful dogs!
