i <3 it when they sleep upside down like that. Although it scared me the first time I saw kuma do it!

Somebody is belly up!

i love the photo with shio on his back. the adorbz are too much for our pack to handle.

Hmm…am I ready for a complete Shiba take-over of my couch? Hmmm….

Awwh Shio turns in his sleep. I really like how Shio and Goo Goo sleeps the same exact way, so cute. >w<

Goo Goo vs. Toys + Food

The most amusing part of fostering so far with Goo Goo is watching her try foods that are new to her. All these new flavors that she is just discovering are the same that Shio chows down with gusto. Watching Goo Goo playing with toys is hilarious too. She does not know how to play with it and only gets in a bite or two on a squeaky toy before Shio runs in and steals it from her.

When we offer new foods to her, we also hold out a piece for Shio too. Before accepting her piece, she always sniffs Shio’s first to see if he’s eating the same thing. When she determines that it’s edible, she takes it gingerly in her mouth and rolls it around on her tongue. Then drops it on the ground. Then picks it back up with her mouth and bites down with her teeth to break the surface of the treat. A little flavor comes out. She rolls it around in her mouth some more. Eventually after much experimentation and examination, she decides that it’s palatable and chews the treat. All the meanwhile Shio stares at her waiting for her to drop or abandon her food on the ground. So far she’s tried mango, apple, cottage cheese, marrow bone, pig’s ear, blueberries, and bananas.

Goo Goo hasn’t gotten the concept of toys yet. I don’t think she had any toys in her previous home. She doesn’t really know what to do with a stuffed squeaky toy or a ball. She always observes Shio chase down a thrown toy and carry it back to the living room rug for a squeak fest. She’s starting to take initiative to finding toys on her own and experimenting with them. Experimentation includes chewing lightly on the toy. Her favorite toy right now is a squeaky beaver ball with tail.

Kaiju’s like that with new things (toys and food, both), too. It’s funny how cautious he is. Even the birthday treats, he is suspicious. Reading about Goo Goo makes me want to go and hug her.

We hope the three shibas can play together soon!!

gasp! she’s SO CUTE!

our tsuki is cautious about food, or should i just say she’s downright picky…

Shio + Goo Goo vs. Bath

We finished the Thanksgiving Weekend with a bang — by giving the two shibas baths!

Shio knew exactly what was up. He wanted out immediately.

Goo Goo, on the other hand, was at least somewhat cooperative. That, or maybe she has not learned to put up a fight just yet…

One thing is for sure though — post-bath zoomies are more fun with two shibas!

I LOVE post bath zoomies! Although with four dogs it is downright chaotic.

Shio + Goo Goo vs. Coney Island

We have talked about taking the pups out to Coney Island for a family field trip. The weather was beautiful, so it was a perfect day for it…

… Except the guy who booked the car before us ran 30 minutes late.

Shio, in particular, was not happy with this — Whale Eye alert!!

When we finally got into the car, the two shibas immediately went to sleep…

After the 30-minute drive, we reached Coney Island. Shio immediately pulled us off the boardwalk and onto the beach.

Our final stop was, of course, Nathan’s! On our way there, we admired the color signage that Coney Island is famous for.

All in all, it was a great way to spend a Saturday with the pack.

Coney Island is one of those magical sounding places with lots of history (well, as much history as one gets in the urban US!) that I would love to visit someday. Glad I got a few glimpses with your pack!

JML

I think the feeling that you get when you are at Coney Island is one of visiting a place that has long seen its glory days past… Pure nostalgia…

Love the photos! And Goo Goo! Are you her forever home?

When I was about five or six years old, my parents took us to Nathan’s and we ate our hotdogs outside on the sidewalk like everyone else. My parents and brother were happily eating, chatting with others when I suddenly burst into tears and cried and cried. My parents couldn’t figure out what was wrong. I asked them if we were poor and had to eat outside the restaurant! They took a photo of my little perturbed self standing on the sidewalk in front of Nathan’s.

Thanks!! I wish they had more dog-centric activities at Coney Island…!

Black Friday

Shio and Goo Goo’s Black Friday:

Morning at the dogrun:

Baking post brunch:

Long walk around sunset — which included numerous rounds of protests by Shio (Occupy Hoomans):

By sundown, Goo Goo showed off her bling in the dogrun:

Hope everybody had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are thankful to have two shibas in our pack — one of which has a personality 100x his size. No pointing fingers, Shio…!

Shio still does his laydown protests! So funny. Well, maybe not for you. Maybe Goo Goo can teach him a thing or two. Love the two of them together, super cute. Happy Holidays!
