Update on Emi

Time for an Emi update! Even though we’ve already adopted her, she’s still growing in so many ways to adapt both to her new environment and our routines at home. She has officially been ours since December 13th but she came into our home as a foster on October 21st. This is our 3 month…

awwww, thanks for the update!

NYEarthling

With 20+ other dogs in her former home, how much personal space could she have had? She lived in a Shiba tenement.

I’m so glad she’s got the home she deserves, and I love love love that picture of her, chin on Shio, looking contentedly at the camera! She’s healthy and happy, you guys are doing a fantastic job.

How absolutely fantastic. Oh I love these adoption success stories, and photos of happy and healthy dogs. It keeps me going. Honestly… thank you!

What wonderful progress!! Agreeing with the others, glad she has found such a lovely family to adopt :) Especially loving how both pups have bonded!

Week 3 with Goo Goo

Just finished up our third week with Goo Goo. She’s doing a great job coming out of her shell. Instead of hiding in or under shady places now, she is ready to meet the world with her bad ass Shiba self. I originally thought she would be okay with meeting new people but she’s more…

what a sweet smile!

Lady Goo Goo – nice :)

I think you guys may have pushed us over the edge in getting a second sheeb ;)

Week 1 with Goo Goo

We’re into week #3 with Goo Goo so I’m behind on our fostering updates. The only thing I want to do lately is lounge around with my Shibas. Overall, fostering has been a great experience. It took us a very long time to take the leap to open up our place to another dog especially with…

Adam and I have absolutely fallen in love with Goo goo. If we had a house, we would ask to be considered for adoption in a HEART BEAT (she’s also only 1 month older than Raiden), but we are in a condo that’s simply not suitable for more than one shiba. Please continue to update – we are really rooting for this little one!

Oh, what a great influence you’ve been on her already! So sweet.

Such a sweet post. My heart ached for her and the changes she went through but I am so happy she is adjusting so well. I am so proud of big brother Shio as well! Can’t wait to see how she grows and becomes part of your family! :)

how wonderful! this is the joy of fostering a dog like her – watching her blossom in an environment that just lets her be a beloved pet dog.

you guys rock.

“Her tail lifted into a fallen question mark shape” – beautiful description.

And a very touching entry. I’m also impressed by Shio’s patience. What a good boy, obviously raised in a loving family. So nice that you can share the love and pass along what you’ve learned and are learning.

Melanie

oh my goodness, what a great story. When Goo Goo is settled in, she has to meet Pita. I bet they will all get along great!

My bet is on you adopting goo goo indefinitely ;)

We’re cheering Goo Goo on! :D If you decide to adopt her, she can be the missing black shiba in Our Shibal Inu!

Fostering Goo Goo

Josh and I thought a lot about the possibility of a second dog when Shio turned 2 years old in December of last year. The problem was that even if we were ready emotionally to take on another dog, the timing was still off. We didn’t have a car and it would be difficult to…

what a cute face! thanks so much for using your home to help a shiba-in-need!

What happened to Goo Goo 1? Good luck with the fostering? I can tell Josh is already resigned to the potential outcome!

Lise

Goo Goo is gorgeous! I am really looking forward to reading updates on her and Shio’s progress. I am sure they will get along great. Like any single child, it will be difficult to share things and territory, but I think he will really appreciate the company and they will grow to be best buds. Best of luck to the both of you – and thank you (from one Shiba rescue owner to another) for taking in a foster!

Mary (mfromdc)

Goodness–what a beautiful girl! I can’t wait to hear lots of stories about Goo Goo and Shio together. If she’s along to keep him company, Shio might even want to walk! I’ve read that it’s best to introduce a new dog to the household at a neutral location–do you plan to try that? Congratulations to all! Shio gets a sisfur. You get a beautiful shiba! Best of all, Goo Goo gets a fabulous home with brofur to keep her company so she won’t miss the other 21 quite so much.

Thank you for fostering! We can’t wait for stories and maybe some video too? :-) And I’ll add this reminder: they still need funds at the rescue for all of this.

This is so exciting! Made me smile to read this post =)

Thank YOU for fostering!!! You will love it, I promise. :)

Wendy

Wow, that’s is incredibly nice of both of you to foster Goo Goo. I’m sure Shio will be happy with another friend in the house too! I hope you all make enjoyable memories in the future!

Yay! I can’t wait to hear about all your special adventures together.

I can’t wait to see how GG2 fits in.

Here’s a song for you to help welcome her. Local noise/mashup/collage artists reworked a classic from “Moving Right Along” from The Muppet Movie and turned it into a wobbly, quirky ditty renamed “Good Times A Goo Goo.” It came immediately to mind when I read your announcement, and you can d/l an mp3 of it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3206860/04%20Good%20Times%20A%20Goo%20Goo.mp3

aw yeah!!!!!! i love reading stuff like this.

it’s super hard to take the foster plunge. GO YOU! there will be trying times ahead, but the joy and amount you will learn far outweigh the potential stress of adjustment.

I can’t wait to read all about GooGoo2!

My comment didn’t show up!

I LOVE reading things like this! Love love love.
I wish you all the best in your fostering endeavor. There is no harm in ‘failing’, its a beautiful thing to help a dog find its forever home – even if that home is you.

Bravo for going for it :)

Thanks for the support and encouraging words! She’s going to be here in an hour. I can’t wait!!!!

I love that you promise things and they come true. It’s been an awesome experience so far Jenna!

Thanks! We hope to inspire more people to foster as well through our experience!

Thanks! Shio’s incredibly happy to have a live in playmate!
