Beeeeeeeeach!

On Wednesday afternoon, the only beautiful NY day this week, we went out to Fire Island and let Shio and his fur-cousin, Lucas, run to their hearts content on the beach. Only stipulation was that one leash was tied to both dogs because we weren’t sure if Lucas’ recall would be up to par. My…

My Shibas love the beach too. It’s so great to let them off the leash to run free. I had to laugh at that last picture of the dog passed out. My dogs do the same thing – too cute!

Shio’s New Scab

Over the holiday weekend, I brought Shio to Long Island to visit my family. They have a beautiful and grassy dog run blocks from their house, so I thought it would be a good idea for Shio to get a real run and play with other dogs while we were out there. While Shio was…

Chicks do dig scars, very manly. Have you threatened him with the cone of shame if he doesn’t stop his sneaky scratching? :-D

Dude. You gonna look BADASS.

Shio the Escapee

I’m glad that this is a story that I can look back on and laugh today. On December 19th, I had traveled back to Long Island with our precious little munchkin to visit my family before our holiday trip to Hong Kong. I needed to leave Shio at my parent’s home while we went out…

Shio @ Airport

Shio and I travelled to JFK on Monday to pick up my family from the airport and stay overnight on Long Island. At first, we were going to leave him in the car since we weren’t sure whether dogs would be allowed in the airport pickup terminal or not. We decided to give it a…

Shio and his Bag

Wherever Shio’s travel bag goes, Shio is sure to follow. Why you ask? Because he knows that when we bring out the bag, he goes somewhere fun. We bought Shio’s bag for him when he was a mere 3 months old. It’s the large Original Sherpa bag that will hold a dog up to 22…

Shio, you are so adorable, and I love all your photos. The third one is especially nice though ’cause you look all happy and excited about being out in your sherpa! M.

I didn’t know you are allowed to take pets on the train! Pongy’s way over the weigh limit though.. she’s around 28 pounds and I can’t imagine Jada staying in a bag.

Hi –

I have a 20 pound Shiba (Pixie) and we use the Nantucket Pet Tote (in X-large). They basically look like those L.L. Bean tote bags with a scoop for the dog to stick her head out of and with a small leash that connects the dog to the bag. It’s perfectly acceptable to use on the NYC transit system and is easy to carry. Pixie enjoys being lugged around all over the city and the subway rhythm always puts her to sleep.

Thanks for the suggestion Ray! I just searched for the bag and its beautiful… perfect for summer!

[...] that Shio is too large for his Sherpa bag, his head was poking out and he attracted a lot of attention and smiles from the other passengers. [...]
