Shio and his Bag

Wherever Shio’s travel bag goes, Shio is sure to follow. Why you ask? Because he knows that when we bring out the bag, he goes somewhere fun. We bought Shio’s bag for him when he was a mere 3 months old. It’s the large Original Sherpa bag that will hold a dog up to 22…

Shio, you are so adorable, and I love all your photos. The third one is especially nice though ’cause you look all happy and excited about being out in your sherpa! M.

I didn’t know you are allowed to take pets on the train! Pongy’s way over the weigh limit though.. she’s around 28 pounds and I can’t imagine Jada staying in a bag.

Hi –

I have a 20 pound Shiba (Pixie) and we use the Nantucket Pet Tote (in X-large). They basically look like those L.L. Bean tote bags with a scoop for the dog to stick her head out of and with a small leash that connects the dog to the bag. It’s perfectly acceptable to use on the NYC transit system and is easy to carry. Pixie enjoys being lugged around all over the city and the subway rhythm always puts her to sleep.

Thanks for the suggestion Ray! I just searched for the bag and its beautiful… perfect for summer!

Shio in Target

Last month, Shio made another shopping cart appearance at my favorite store in the world: Target. I wasn’t sure if I could bring him into Target but I sure as hell was not leaving him in the car during 90 degree weather on Long Island. I took the chance and had him sit in the…

I’ve seen a dog in Home Depot before. But I guess since Target usually has a foods section they aren’t allowed?

[...] Shio and I travelled to JFK on Monday to pick up my family from the airport and stay overnight on Long Island. At first, we were going to leave him in the car since we weren’t sure whether dogs would be allowed in the airport pickup terminal or not. We decided to give it a chance and bring him in anyway and deal with the problem if we were kicked out. It’s not like we haven’t been ousted from a public area before (ahem*Target*ahem). [...]

Shioscaping

Ever hear of landscaping your lawn to improve its appearance? Well, Shio hasn’t. In fact, he has discovered how to do the exact opposite of creating a perfectly manicured lawn and we are calling it Shioscaping. Other Shiba owners call it Shibascaping. While on Long Island visiting an old friend with beautiful Border Collies for…

Car Rides for Shio

I’ve had the opportunity to take Shio out for many car rides on Long Island last week while taking a break from NYC. Things he has learned about car rides: 1. Sometimes Shio gets restless and wants to walk around but he quickly learns that standing in the car would mean that he would lose…

Shio Home Alone

While out in Long Island, we left Shio tied to a piano bench in the house alone so that we could go run some errands (and Ting needed to go to Tanger Outlets…). We thought the piano bench was heavy enough, and that given Shio had been running around in the yard for a while,…
