Back to Basics

Our foster, Goo Goo 2, will be here in an hour! In preparation for her arrival, we’ve gone back to the basics. 1. Crate for training Having very little idea of Goo Goo’s background, we are prepared to crate train her, just as we did with Shio. When Shio was a puppy, he was only…

Shio @ Daycare

Since it’s been cold outside here in NYC, I’ve decided that I could drop Shio off in doggy daycare to run around for a few hours instead of suffering in the cold at the dog run for an hour every morning. From the moment that we walked in, he seemed pretty happy about being there….

I used to work at a doggie daycare and took Pongy there a few times. She was definitely not a happy camper and always looked to escape. My co workers had to lock her up when I wasn’t there because she would get stressed and when she escaped, she would snap at the people trying to bring her back.

However! When it was almost closing time and we were down to the last few dogs, she would actually play and be okay. She would always look for me but she seemed more calm in a one on one dog environment.

Some dogs (usually the obnoxious labs & huskies) LOVEEEE it there. It just really depends on your doggie’s personality. I find that shibas (other than Pongy) are the shy ones at doggie daycare. It sucks since the owners usually bring them there to ‘tire them out’ but it turns out they don’t do much anyways.

woops.. wrote a really long comment. Sorry!

Kim

LOL at your ‘puppy’ remarks. Please know you can call Shio puppy for quite some time yet! After all, all the vets I speak with [I volunteer at shelters] ‘say’ that they aren’t really out of that full-on puppy stage for sometime yet. [or at any rate you can slide into the "listen here kid" or "oh you youngins!"
Hope this helps… [me chuckling]
