What my Shiba has taught me.

Trust is earned. Fight for what you want (treats). Fight against what you don’t want (baths). When you see/smell something you like, throw your whole body weight into it. Always stare blankly at an incredulous request (cuddling). If you think someone is going to take food out of your mouth, chew faster. If someone has…

Oh those eyes! Shiba puppy eyes! He looks so sweet and cute and afraid! I guess there was a vacuum?

I think the videos of Shio in Sephora’s perfume section are so funny– they always make my day!

“all of the above!”

He would be fiercely attacking our vacuum if it were out!

If I remember correctly (old picture from old apt) he was under the couch trying to retrieve his Kong toy. It’s really just his pathetic “I can’t get my toy so will you pls help me” puppy eyed look!

Shiba Scream

I thought I’d follow up with my previous post by talking a little more about the Shiba scream. <Begin> You’ve read about the scream because you are a diligent pet owner to be and did your research on Shibas before you picked yours up. But how to you know when you’ve heard it live from…

Yeah, there is no doubting it. Mainly because you cannot hear anything else for a few hours after. Totally ear-splitting.

haha So true! I see people posting videos on You Tube labeled ‘shiba scream’ and it’s just a little howl. That shiba scream is blooooooood curdling!

Drama!!!

This morning, I took Shio to the dog run next to the Museum of Natural History for a quickie play and was pleasantly surprised when I saw that there were only two chocolate labs (one puppy and one adult) frolicking in the big area. I thought, “Score!!! Now Shio can run and play as he…

Shio, baby! Awwww, you just THOUGHT the big puppy hurt your paw, you’re fine.

Hi Shio!
My mum and I love your blog and tales of your antics! I’m glad your paw is okay and mum had a nice chuckle about your ‘dramatic Shiba screams.’ (*I* know how bad getting bowled over by a clumsy puppy is, but *she* just thought it was funny. How insensitive.)
Looking forward to your posts! :)

That is too funny!! I remember when Romeo fell off our bed as a pup and screamed so loud, I just knew he had a broken it but nope… nothing was wrong. Also when my parents husky got mad at him one day, he ran under the bed and pouted! They really are so dramatic! Our friends shiba does the same type stuff and is even more dramatic that Romeo. I just love shibas and their quirky personalities!

Shio sounds like a great shiba. Do you take his collar off when you’re home?

Diva!
My Sakie tripped slightly while rushing out of the elevator on our floor. She limped dramatically, holding up her right paw. I was so worried, I carried the 30lb-highness all the way to the door… only to put her down gently and watch her daintily walk (on all four) to her bowl for a drink.

Bah.

Yes – We think he looks handsome without his collar! :)

We used to leave the collar on bc the jingling of the tags will let us know where he ran off to but now we track him by the tapping sound of his nails on our hardwood floors!

LOL, that’s so cute. The way you described the scream sounded like bloody murder only it turns out to be an overreaction! So cute! >w<

Shio vs. Poop

Not sure why it has taken so long for this to happen, but recently Shio has experienced some issues while pooping… issues that I find hilarious. Between my long hair, Shio’s fur and anything shaggy that Shio can get his mouth on, he has a lot of strings and hair passing through his digestive system….

My dog, Shiro(no relation) a french bulldog had the stringy butt problem as well. It went away once he stopped eating hair. Sometimes I will give him a sit command a few times to shake the poop out.

I’ll have to try that technique… right now he’s pulling apart his new lobster toy so I’m sure there’ll be some interesting strings coming out tomorrow!
