Shio vs. Squeaky Toy Sounds

Squeaky toys are Shio’s inedible equivalent of marrow bones. He’s becomes so fixated on the squeaky sounds that we actually use toys to aid in training him rather than treats. I’ve been finding inspiration from school projects by researching Pixar’s animations on my computer. While watching the short animation, “For the Birds”, Shio hears the…

Shio’s Dental Hygiene

Okay, so as Josh mentioned, I’m a little crazy about Shio’s dental hygiene. Maybe it was because my friend scared the bejesus out of me when she told me her 3 yo Chihuahua had half his teeth removed because they failed to care for his teeth or maybe because I’m just crazy. On a serious…

Shio, you are so adorable, and I love all your photos. The third one is especially nice though ’cause you look all happy and excited about being out in your sherpa! M.

I have a 20 pound Shiba (Pixie) and we use the Nantucket Pet Tote (in X-large). They basically look like those L.L. Bean tote bags with a scoop for the dog to stick her head out of and with a small leash that connects the dog to the bag. It’s perfectly acceptable to use on the NYC transit system and is easy to carry. Pixie enjoys being lugged around all over the city and the subway rhythm always puts her to sleep.

Thanks for the suggestion Ray! I just searched for the bag and its beautiful… perfect for summer!

How We Keep Shio Busy

We’ve found that the trouble with having Shio out of his crate is keeping him entertained. If he is not entertained, he starts looking for trouble. The best source of entertainment for him have been interactive dog toys made by Busy Buddy or Kong. The best one so far has been the Busy Buddy Treat…
